    Potato Peelings

Potato peelings – this is a product that people scavenged from the trash during the genocide perpetrated by the Nazis, primarily targeting the Jewish nation. Today, on October 22, 2024, we receive reports from the besieged Gaza Strip that Palestinian children are searching for potato peelings to bring to their mothers so they can prepare a meal.

    Israel towards the Palestinians:

There are harrowing accounts of children in the Gaza Strip scavenging for food, particularly potato peelings, as a survival tactic amidst extreme hunger. With skyrocketing food prices—three potatoes costing around $40—many families rely on whatever scraps they can find. Reports indicate that these peelings, often retrieved from garbage, are one of the few food sources available, reflecting the severe humanitarian crisis affecting the region.

In the Gaza Strip, potato peelings are often boiled or fried to make them more palatable. They are sometimes mixed with other ingredients, such as spices, to enhance the flavor. This practice allows families to make the most of what little food they can find, transforming scraps into a basic meal amid dire circumstances

    Nazis towards the Jews:

‘’After some time the mother of Friderica Thepper lost weight until this point, that she couldn’t walk. Friderica with her little brother, both as thin as a skieleton, started to walk through the bins/trashes and collected potatoe’s peels, which their mother washed and steamed, and then chopped and fried on the dry pan.’

-From the Ghetto period?… what particular stayed in your mind?

    - Hunger, famine and peels… We ate peels. That’s all I have in mind.
