    Locust

    INGREDIENTS

    • a few pieces of locusts
    • olive oil or oil
    • spices

    PREPARATION

“Today’s dish, after we change its shape, can become good and tasty. We remove the heads of the locusts and get rid of them. Fry the abdomen and legs separately in oil. Mix the olive oil with spices and pour the mixture over the frying parts of the insect. ”*1

From the very beginning of the protests in Syria, government troops have used the tactic of pacifying the centers of revolution which was previously used in 1982: government troops surround a rebellious city or neighborhood, cut off the supply of electricity, water, food and medicine. The city is then bombarded until elite military units enter and sweep house after house, arresting all suspects of favoring the opposition. (…) The cities in the suburbs of Damascus and around the city of Homs, which were controlled by opposition troops, have now been under siege for many months, some since mid-2012. Until March 2016, practically none of humanitarian aid reached them, and the lack of food, medicine and medical care resulted in countless casualties. A complete blockade was introduced only in a few localities. Residents of other besieged cities can smuggle food across the front lines, risking their lives each time, or buy it from government soldiers at many times higher prices. *2
